The delay imposes a set time delay on the input signal. in this example, this delay is set to 1 hour.

Example

In the example below, a pump needs to keep running for 10 minutes after the system is deactivated. So you can take the maximum of the signal itself and the delay. When the system goes to “high” the max will instantly go to “high”. When the system goes to “low”, the delay stays at “high” for 10 more minutes, meaning the max will stay on “high” for those 10 minutes.
