Activator
Symbol
Usage & working
The activator works as a light switch where a “1” is the same as pressing the button. There are 2 inputs:
The 1 counts as the activation or pressing the button
The 0 counts as the deactivation or unpressing of the button
When the 1 gets a high (or “1” signal) applied, the activator goes too high and stays there (even when the 1 goes back down) until there is a high signal applied to the 0 connection. In this case, the activator goes too low.
Example
An often-used example is the activation of a heat pump based on the buffer vessel. If the buffer vessel is filled (meaning the bottom of the buffer vessel is larger than 50°C) the heat pump can be deactivated through the activator (set to low). If the high sensor of the buffer is below 45°C, the heat pump can be activated (set to high).
