Plant Room
Often, it is not required to draw a full plant room from scratch.
Most combinations are already available as a template in the inspiration library, for example like below, a cascade of boilers was required. By simply navigating to the inspiration library, clicking on the production units needed (in this case just boilers), and clicking insert, the template gets loaded into your model.
If the exact configuration is not yet available in the inspiration library, the currently available models could also be used as a starting point to adjust to the needed configuration.
After the model has been inserted, all parameters should be checked and updated toward the actual installed situation. What follows is a list of parameters to check, however, this is not the full list and every single project should be looked at critically.
Boilers
Boiler capacity
Water volume (by clicking the pencil icon next to boiler capacitance)
The KV-value through the boiler (this can be implemented as the pressure drop over the design flow by clicking the pencil icon)
The KVS value of the on/off valves
Insert pump curves
Set correct pipe diameters if known, otherwise, unlock them and Hysopt will calculate an approximation.
Distribution
More information on different distribution options can be found here: Hybrid production Heating
For the example, a parallel production was used, in which case the primary power percentage should be filled in. This value lets Hysopt know how to divide the design flow over the inlets. The exact value depends on the boilers installed and, if all boilers are the same size, is already filled in correctly in hysopt.

Low Loss Header:
Often, a low loss header is placed, which hydraulically separates the energy center and secondary side. No special parameters should be filled in, however, it is important to always look at the pump control in this case.

Heat exchanger:
Another option for hydraulic separation is a heat exchanger, similar to boilers, their capacity and KV-values (pressure drop) need to be filled in. Capacity can be done using 2 methods:
Primary supply and return temperature
In this case, you simply fill in supply and return temperature and, using the capacity calculation, Hysopt will calculate the UA-value
UA-value and supply temperature
If more information is known about the heat exchanger, the UA value can be filled in directly. This can be done by clicking the pencil icon and using one of the 5 options. Oftentimes, the most useful will be parameterization, where both primary and secondary inflow, outflow and design volume flows can be implemented, which Hysopt will use to calculate the UA-value and thus, the capacity.
Finally, don’t forget to set if the heat exchanger is counterflow, parallel flow, or crossflow.
