Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES)
BTES systems use tubes in the ground as a heat exchanger to inject or extract thermal energy in or from the ground. In the summer heat is extracted from the ground, meanwhile cooling the ground down and storing cold for the winter. In the winter it’s the other way around.
In the Hysopt library there are different BTES Base Circuits available.
If the BTES system uses a header, we call it a BTES 1.0 (open system)
If the BTES system uses a heat exchanger, it is called a BTES 1.4 (closed system)
