Systems with geothermal energy storage are a bit more complex than hybrid systems, mainly because the heating and cooling circuit are connected to each other in a hydraulic and control technical way. The connection doesn’t give the same amount of freedom to deliver partial templates in which the user can combine different templates.

Hysopt provides full-blown templates with geothermal energy storage, in which the user can delete and/or deactivate parts which aren’t applicable for their system. For this reason, a lot of templates are needed to provide the same amount of freedom the user already has with templates without geothermal energy storage.

The templates are divided into Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) and Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) systems.
