Folder structure and project identification
Hysopt requires a specific way to organize and structure your models.
When modelling a hydronic installation, the software provides three possible locations (“Folders”) in which to store your model.
Depending on the purpose of your design, you’ll need to select the folder that fit your needs.

View the total calculated design power
If you would like to view the total design power of a model (which is calculated and used used for the project fee), there are two options :
Option 1 : The calculated total design power is visible in the Project Identification Window.
Option 2 : we added a Base Circuit that you can put on the canvas, and which shows you the calculated total heating power and total cooling power of the complete model.
By adding a dynamic label on this BC, the total calculated power is even printed and updated continuously on the canvas.
The Base Circuit is available in the Control Library under Graphing / Visualisation, and it looks like this.
in the library:
on the canvas:
Calculation of the total design power
The calculation of the total power is based on the total calculated design power (incl. heating, cooling and domestic hot water) taking diversity for CH and DHW into account.
Over- or undersizing
Over- or undersizing your production units had no effect on the calculation of the total calculated design power. Over- or undersizing is not taken into account.
Example : in the following three situations, the total calculated design power is each time 60,2 kW.
Auxiliary power
Introducing auxiliary power in a hybrid production system (by opting for full load propagation towards one or both of the production units) has no effect on the calculation of the total calculated design. The auxiliary power is not taken into account.
Auxiliary power can be introduced in hybrid models where one of the production units (e.g. solar power) might not guarantee the system load, or when you want to introduce redundancy.
Example : in the following three situations (including the hybrid production BC “reverse drag flow node power node on return”), the total calculated design power is each time 250 kW. The power propagation method does not influence the calculation.
ATES & BTES
For ATES & BTES base circuits, we take into account the full cold withdraw power, (allthough the cold deposit power might be the one propagated), as the cold withdraw is the power is the power needed by the endunits.
